More meters per employee, fewer desks, more spaces

The new offices will have more open and collaborative spaces.

That COVID-19 has affected our routines is more than palpable, but how will it affect the future of work? What will companies do with their spaces? What will the offices of the future be like?

The answer is not simple because there are bound to be all kinds of decisions. But it does seem clear that a large number of companies will choose to modify their previous policies. In fact, many architecture and interior design firms are looking for larger and more collaborative spaces in their new office designs, moving from the standard 8 m2 per employee to ratios of between 12 and 15 m2.

This means that company offices will not have simultaneous spaces for all their professionals, promoting and encouraging teleworking, or workout or work anywhere, as large companies such as ING or Liberty Europe have already done.

As Ejeprime reports, echoing a survey published by Knight Frank, "77% of respondents say they will eliminate the number of desks per employee over the next three years. Six out of ten point to a 50% elimination of desks."

This elimination of fixed workstations in companies will necessarily imply an increase in the demand for flexible spaces in Coworkings, Hotels, Business Centers or Cafeterias... in short, work anywhere.

Therefore, from eekox we are committed to make available to professionals the best flexible spaces, so they can develop their activity in optimal conditions, with an adjusted price.
